Ben Affleck’s solo Batman film, tentatively titled The Batman (Affleck has previously stated that the title will likely change), is still a long way off, with an expected release window of mid to late 2018. In early September, it was confirmed that Joe Manganiello had been cast as the film’s main villain Deathstroke and thanks to a new interview with Manganiello himself, we now know when the film will start production.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at an anniversary celebration for the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, Manganiello was quoted as saying that he is “getting ready to go shoot Batman in the spring.” While we will have to wait for an official release from Warner Bros. confirming production start times, Manganiello’s comments would certainly comply with the prediction that The Batman is about 18 months away from release (Warner Bros. CEO Jeff Bewkes claimed as much last month).

That being said, DC movie shave typically taken close to two years to get from the start of production to theatrical release, so if The Batman is starting production in the Spring, it would probably mean the film will release late in 2018.

Ben Affleck will next reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in Justice League on November 17, 2017.
