SPOILERS AHEAD!!! GO BACK!!!

Alright, we mean it this time. Let’s move on.

According to Watchers on the Wall, there have been multiple sightings of the set of Winterfell, the famous Stark stronghold in the North of Westeros, completely engulfed in flames. In fact, here’s a Facebook video someone shared:

So much for the King in the North.

It seems pretty clear that Winterfell will fall at some point in Season 8, but it’s still a question of how or why. The fire could be from the Night King’s newly undead dragon (they would have to change it to blue flame in post-production). It could also be from Cersei’s leftover supply of wildfyre. There’s even the possibility that Daenerys goes all “Mad Queen” like her father and torches Jon Snow’s home after a lover’s quarrel (like, say, finding out he’s actually your nephew).

Belfast Live also reported i that the filming at Winterfell included  “400 or 500 extras,” suggesting that one of Season 8’s largest battle scenes will happen in the North. For reference, that’s roughly the same number of extras used in the “Battle of the Bastards” scene or the epic Loot Train Ambush scene in Season 7.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO in 2019.
