Next to Justice League and Wonder Woman, Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie is arguably the most anticipated upcoming film in DC’s catalog, especially after the recent announcement that Joe Manganiello will be playing Deathstroke.

Unfortunately, the film is still a long way off, as it has neither a release date or even a confirmed release date yet. Many have assumed that Batman is occupying the empty October 2018 release slot on Warner Bros. release schedule, but recent comments from Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes suggest that it could be coming quite a bit sooner.

At the 25th Annual Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, Bewkes indicated that Affleck’s film is only a year and a half away. “Ben announced a Batman movie [that[ he’s going to direct, star, write for – I think it’s a year and a half out.”

Until Warner Bros. lays down a solid release date, we won’t know for sure when exactly to expect Affleck’s Batman film to take flight, but Bewkes’s 18 month estimation would put it at an March 2018 release. There’s only one problem: The Flash is already scheduled for a March 16, 2018 release. Does this mean that Warner Bros. is planning on pushing The Flash back in order to have Affleck’s Batman come out sooner? Until WB reveals a firm release date, we’ll have to take this news with a grain of salt, but the prospect of seeing a new Batman movie much earlier than expected is certainly exciting, even if it potentially comes at the expense of having to wait longer for The Flash to come out.
