Ben Affleck has been making the rounds promoting his new film Live By Night, but of course, people are hungry for any new information the actor/director might have on The Batman, the working title for his solo film based on the DC hero that is scheduled for release sometime in 2018.

Affleck did an interview this week with The New York Times during a Facebook Live Event, where the discussion eventually turned to The Batman and how the film’s script is coming along. According to Affleck, he’s not in a rush to get the film out just to meet a release date, so perhaps that 2018 release window isn’t quite set in stone …

“I’m a real believer in not doing, not reverse engineering projects to meet a window or a date, but rather like when you get the right story or you get the righ idea or you get the right thing, then you make the movie.” Affleck said.

It was recently revealed that Justice League 2 was delayed from its June 14, 2019 release date in order to make way for Affleck’s Batman film, which Warner Bros. plans to release first. Given that Affleck also mentions in the same interview that the script for the The Batman isn’t even finished yet, perhaps Warner Bros. is planning to put the Dark Knight in that June 14, 2019 slot. Only time will tell …
