Nintendo has revealed worldwide sales figures for the Super NES Classic Edition and unsurprisingly, it’s been a huge success.
Since its release on September 29, 2017, the SNES Classic has sold four million units, Nintendo announced during its latest financial results briefing. This figure includes sales of the North American version, as well as the Japanese version, known as the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Famicom, and the European and Australian editions, known as the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Although Nintendo initially promised that there would be considerably more supply of the SNES Classic Edition compared to its predecessor, the NES Classic, the system has been hard to track down ever since release, with GameStop reporting back in early October that its entire supply sold out “within minutes” upon release.
