Anyone who follows the games industry already knew that Fallout 4 would be a major success, but few could have predicted that it would already be shattering records less than 24 hours after it was first released.

According to Steam Charts, Bethesda’s latest open world RPG reached a peak of 390,000 concurrent players today…and that’s only on Steam! That means that Fallout 4 now officially holds the record for most concurrent players on the platform, besting the former record holder, Grand Theft Auto 5. By comparison, it took Rockstar’s game 3 days to achieve that record.

Of course, it must be stressed that Fallout 4 only holds the record when it comes to games not published by Steam’s creators Valve. Dota 2 holds the all-time record by a gigantic margin with more than 1 million concurrent players.

We’ve only just gotten our hands on Fallout 4, so look for more impressions and coverage in the coming days.
