Mark the date on your calendar – the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 BETA takes place later this year between October 6th and 9th (or 4th and 9th for those who have the preorder). The full release is on November 16th, so keep in mind it’s never too early to plan your vacation days!

The BETA will demo two modes and maps from Galactic Assault and Starfighter Assault, where the former takes place on the planet Naboo. You’ll be assisting (or assaulting) the Republic’s clones or Separatist droids in the city of Theed, and an IGN article claimed you’ll have the chance to try out four classes: Assault Troopers, Heavy Troopers, Officers and Specialists. Officers will have special abilities to buff teammates and drop remote weapons, while Specialists snipe and lay traps for unsuspecting enemies. The BETA also features prequel-era vehicles and heroes from the films, so cross your fingers for some double-bladed lightsaber action.

As for what the Starfighter Assault mode will offer, EA said far less. However, we know the multiplayer battles take place in space during the original trilogy of films, where players pilot “an assortment of Star Wars’ greatest ships”.

Stay tuned for more info – EA promised to show off more Battlefront 2 at Gamescom in August. You can also get your preorder online today.
